In Elba Napoleon was allowed to bring a personal escort of 1000 men, he could bring a household staff and was given the title of Emperor of Elba. This allowed him to rule over 110,000 people.While in Elba, Napoleon had thoughts that "turned to Paris". He went back to Paris, and due to the scarcity of his military marshals, he was forced to renounce his throne in April 1814.
